Oshen’s First Impression Of Girardi’s Yankees

April 11, 2008 – 7:13 am

Just a quick shell from the Oshen about our beloved pinstriped boys of summer.

The main reason we didn’t get to the big show last year, after having a better offensive season than any team runwise over the last 80 years, was weak inefficient and inconsistent pitching.

Although our offense has been admittedly anemic so far through 10 games, our pitching is so far lookin’ purty good. From Wang rebounding from last season’s playoff meltdown with 2 quality starts to the recent solid 6 inning efforts from Mussina and Pettitte (the latter successfully distancing himself from the off-season HGH/Clemens contretemps), the uber-vets have performed well. Add to this the decent outings from youngsters Kennedy, Hughes and the ever enthusiastic Joba Chamberlain (not yet a starter), and the staff is showing early signs of being at the level the Yanksters need to grab the first ring in the post-Torre era.

And new Bombers Manager Joe Girardi’s kind of a cutie! ;) Enough said, check back around game 20.

  2. At least your Yankees have more going for them than the Detroit Tigers. Talk about pitching problems …
